Backing Up Data

The most important thing that is more often than not forgotten about, this was once only the worry of businesses with important documents to lose but now the PC is critical in just about everything we do from writing letters to storing our photographs or videos why risk losing these irreplaceable files?

Norfolk PC Rescue has several solutions for backups they are commonly referred to as off-site or on-site backups

OFF-SITE
The Vault – special secure online storage area, a little application runs on your PC automatically backing up your important files there is an ongoing monthly fee for this.

ON-SITE
External storage – an external hard drive connected either to your network
or a PC directly and then backup software will copy files to this for you at regular intervals.

The important thing to remember with on-site storage is that if the drive is lost or stolen then your backup is still gone but off-site if there is a theft or fire your data is still secure in a data centre ready to be retrieved.

Off-site backups are designed to be stored in a separate location from the main files once created so are perfect for shops/small businesses where you can take the portable drive home with you at the end of the day.  The best option would be to use both systems.

We highly recommend using The Vault as the startup costs are very low with just
a small monthly fee to cover the cost of the amount of storage you need.
